Every year, Uganda joins the rest of the world to commemorate the World Breastfeeding Week in the first week of August. The event aims to highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to both the health and welfare of babies, as well as a wider push for maternal health, focusing on good nutrition, poverty reduction and food security. The event was organized by Ministry of Health in Partnership with stakeholders. During the course of the week, various activities aimed at protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding in Uganda were carried out. The theme for 2019 World Breastfeeding week was ‘Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding’
